April Fooled Again

I wish I were clever enough to come up with a post to prank you guys on this April Fools Day 2013; but the truth is, I haven”t ever been able to pull a very good prank because I can”t keep a straight face even when you can”t see my face. I am, however; very easy to prank. I don”t remember myself being so gullible growing up, but I”ve had people pull some doozies on me throughout the years; and not just on April 1. I can sing”Won”t Get Fooled Again” all I want to; but the truth is, it seems I”m just too trusting.

I woke up this morning knowing what day it was and convinced myself I wasn”t going to be taken for a ride this year. I was then almost immediately duped by the following tweet

Those rascals got me, so I guess I”ll have to wait to next year to try to get through one without falling for something. The most elaborate scheme that I have fallen for in the past was perpetrated by some of my coworkers. It got me so good that I texted one of the conspirators today to tell her not to try anything today. She doesn”t even work at the bank any more.

I can”t tell you much about that morning; we had just finished up another first quarter at the bank and we were certain to have a fun day starting up a new one. I”m in charge of workflow for my department. That means I have to be ready to have someone to cover each function that we preform and have a backup plan in place should anyone be on vacation or call in sick.

The first contact came in through text. “Phil I can”t call you, but I”m not going to be able to make it. I”ve been throwing up all night.” I was genuinely concerned and told her it would be okay; we”d cover her and that she should get some rest and get better. About 10 minutes later I got a call. One of the ladies was taking her son to the hospital. I expressed my concern and told her I would pray for him and asked her to keep me updated. Almost immediately after I hung up the phone, the stomach flu had claimed another victim. I was concerned for our whole team. We are in close proximity to each other and viruses easily spread. I was driving to work keeping my boss informed of the developments the whole way.

I then received another call. One of the ladies was pregnant at the time. She told me she was having issues and heading to the emergency room. You”d think at this point I would know that something was up. To be honest, the thought briefly crossed my mind; but I was convinced online casino that no one would bring their kids into that sort of conversation or prank. Plus the two and eventually the third that called in claiming stomach issues sat in close proximity to each other. It was very feasible that it got them all at once.

I was officially freaking out because my backup and backup of backup plans all were calling in. Again I gave the play by play to my boss. Unbeknownst to me, she had been consulted prior to the plan being hatched and set into motion. When I arrived to start the work day, none of them were present. They all waited until an hour into the day to show up. When they all walked up to my desk at once I had to laugh, but I had to also voice my frustration.

It”s been a few years and I still don”t believe anything they tell me on April 1. Today one of those involved came into my office obviously sick and needing to leave. I had to second guess letting her leave.

Moral of the story folks; if you prank me on April 1, don”t be too proud of yourself. It”s really not that hard to do.

Top 3 songs of the week no foolin
1. IvanΒ & Alyosha “Running for Cover”
2. The Inlaws “Walls”
3. The Mowgli”s “the Great Divide”

This might seem a bit odd to add to this particular blog post, but music is a big part of my life and I”m going to start putting in my top three songs each week in whatever I post. I hope that you find something that you like out of whatever might be included weekly.

How about you? Are you easily pranked, or have you pulled off the perfect prank on someone else? Heard any of my top three songs?

I think you would be very fun to prank, Phil! I fell for the first thing that came into view this morning. A crazy weather forecast calling for big snow in our area. Funny thing was, it was actually snowing outside. But I bought it, signed on the dotted line, and ran out of the store before I knew what hit me.

Thanks for the music recommendations and the fun blog post today!

I’m a pretty good sport when it comes down to it. This weather is just getting crazier and crazier. Northern Oklahoma is possibly getting snow tomorrow. No snow storm, but any snow this time of year is something to get excited about. Thanks Susan. πŸ™‚

  2. We’re moving to your neck of the woods, so hopefully I’ll be able to get you in person next year!

  3. I took my secretary to lunch yesterday for her birthday (which is Wednesday) and almost played the “I forgot my wallet” scene but decided not to. I love to have fun but it has never been in my makeup to prank someone. So the answer to your questions: No and No. Who in the world are those people anyway?

Bill, you’re a good man for letting the opportunity to prank go by without said prank being pulled. Thanks! πŸ™‚

  4. I’m not great with the pranks either. I can spout off things, but anything premeditated and I get too jittery. πŸ™‚ Glad you survived another April Fools!
