Short Chapter, Short Post

Mr Manning brings us the words of Hans Urs Von Balthasar in the chapter “Little Things.” As short as this entry was in the book, my post about it will be that much shorter. I can see why he would trade his writing to have come up with something as beautiful as was presented here.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:3”

“Woe to the rich, and woe to the doubly rich in spirit! Although nothing is impossible for God, it is difficult for the heart and a poor spirit that is easily led by the wind of the Spirit no matter where it leads or how often it moves.

I should’ve kept to the short chapter! Maybe I avoided it myself because I am guilty of what Von Balthasar and Manning rail against- the know-it-all Christian.

I’ll just say, “amen” too. Thanks Philip.
