A couple of posts back, I wrote about how sometimes we spit out our clichéd phrases when we don”t know what else to say; but what I didn”t say in the post is that all clichés are bad and they still can be genuine. One such cliché you hear this time of year is, thanksgiving isn”t just for a day; you should live it out all year. There is even a social networking phenomenon where people put something they are thankful for every day in November. It”s an amazing thing to watch and a little humorous at times when you can tell it has become a chore just like anything else. There are a lot of people out there who are thankful for “hoodie weather” and Starbucks coffee. Thanks November and twitbook for letting me know that about people. 🙂

As for me, I have not done the “I”m thankful for today” posts because I would inevitably forget; or even worse, make it into something ridiculous. “I”m grateful for lamp.” “Are you really grateful for lamp, or are you just pointing out things in the room and saying you”re grateful for them?” My hope is that you know how thankful I am to have you in my life at all times; because I”ve told you, or better yet because you”ve seen it by my actions towards you.

“To speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch Heaven.

Johannes A. Gaertner”

There are so many people I”m thankful for and I would do a great disservice if I tried to list them out here. I would leave too many names off and possibly cause hurt feelings. Just know that you as my friends and family reading this that I have great love and appreciation for you all. As I walk out each day, it becomes more and more clear that I am nothing without the constant support that you all bring.

“We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks, For Your name is near; Men declare Your wondrous works.”(Psalms 75:1 NASB)

I am thankful for the faith that has been put in me since I was a very small child. It is my goal to cultivate it and to seek to glorify God in my life more deeply each day. I have been shaped into the person I am and have gained strength in even the most difficult moments in my life, because of what was placed within me.

“Best of all is it to preserve everything in a pure, still heart, and let there be for every pulse a thanksgiving, and for every breath a song.”

Konrad von Gesner

So as clichéd as it is I”m posting a Thanksgiving Day blog to let you know how grateful I am for each and every thing and opportunity I have been given. Even while walking in hardship, I can honestly say that I have been thankful more often than not. It doesn”t matter what brought me to this place in my life, the people who are in it, or the awesome profession I am in right now; what matters is I have faith that God is always there to lean into in feast, famine or anything in between; and I am thankful for it all.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about how thankful you are for the important things and the little extra things as well. I”m thankful you get to wear your hoodie, and I”m thankful for Starbucks coffee every now and then. However, I”m not nor will I ever be thankful for your cat; I”m allergic.

This blog has had a few “thanksgiving” quotes; I leave you with one more.

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

John F Kennedy

Thank you all for reading.

Have a blessed holiday full of family, football, and food.
